Superintendent’s Report: The Superintendent shared a presentation on the final draft of the strategic plan and data from the spring Student Safety Data System (SSDS). Click here to view the Superintendent’s presentation.
Curriculum & Instruction: The board adopted the 5-year Strategic Plan and the 2024-2025 Professional Development Plan. Click here to review the Strategic Plan. The committee also approved several field trips including a MS ABA and GLOW, Jr. trips around town for Community Based Instruction, a HS Nutrition class trip to the farmers market, HS Robotics team competition in Randolph, NJ, and a trip to the Science Bowl in Princeton for participating MS students.
Finance & Facilities:
Our Before & After School Program has received State licensing. Enrollment is up from last year. Most summer facility projects funded by ESSR funds have been completed. Work is beginning on renovations to the baseball field, and a new preschool playground is being built at Irving. The Board voted to approve contractors for professional services, such an Inventors Club at Bartle and an assembly for the high school on “Breaking the Cycle of Violence’, as well as to accept donations of school supplies from Highland Park Conservative Temple and Congregation Anshe Emeth and from the O’Keefe Memorial Fund for the G.L.O.W. program at the middle school.
Personnel and Communications: The board of education is excited to welcome the following staff members to the district:
Shane Powell - Job Coach Paraprofessional at the High School
Kevin Robinson - Interim Supervisor of STEM in the Central Office
Jane Sestilio - ESL Teacher at the Middle School
Tanisha Jacob - ASP Site Assistant at Irving School
Lucia Peterson - ASP Site Assistant at Bartle/Irving School
Bridget Perez - ASP Site Assistant at Irving/Bartle School
The board welcomed our two new Student Representatives, Ana Jurici and Seth Shapiro. We would also like to thank the students and staff of the G. L.O. W. program for their thoughtful personalized student letters and inscribed mugs.
