Weekly Message from the Superintendent:
This past Monday was National Principal’s Day! I would like to give a huge shout out to our amazing principals, Ms. McNally, Ms. Knapp, Ms. Brady and Mr. Lassiter. They work tirelessly to guide academic success and set a positive tone for our schools. Thank you HP Principals! Additionally, next week is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Please take a moment to thank our staff for all their hard work.
Also, this past Monday the Board of Education approved the 2023-2024 budget. The user-friendly budget is available on the district website or by clicking here. My presentation of the budget is also available under the news feed on the website or by clicking here.
This weekend is filled with lots of exciting activities happening around town. Today, Saturday and Sunday the High School Drama Club presents Disney’s Newsies The Musical. Tickets are still available. Click here for more information or click here to watch the Teaser video! Additionally, the HP 5K and Spring Street Fair will be held on Sunday as well. Springtime brings lots of fun activities around town and I hope to see you out and about!

The next meeting of the board of education will be held on May 1, 2023. The public portion of the meeting will begin at 7:00pm. The agenda can be found at the following link: https://5il.co/1tdof. During this upcoming meeting I will be presenting the final budget for the 2023-2024 school year. A budget hearing will proceed the presentation that includes a public comment portion dedicated to the budget, as well as a vote to approve the budget.

HPHS Music Department presents a pie bake off!
The next meeting of the Board of Education will be on Monday, March 20, 2023. The public portion of the meeting will begin at 7:00pm. This is a voting meeting so I hope you will consider attending to hear board action items, as they contain important information about district operations, which includes modular classrooms for preschool and changes to the High School Graduation policy that is up for first reading. I will also be giving two presentations as part of my Superintendent’s report. I will be sharing the preliminary budget for the board’s review, as well as a presentation on the state of the Before and After Care Program. These are two very important topics that will be open for public comment.

HPPS will be holding a preschool information session on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 at 6pm in the Irving Media Center. Please share this information with any families that will have a child turning 3 (as of October 1st) or 4 year old. Come learn about our preschool expansion program to full day starting in the fall of 2023!
This week some of our HP students were affected by a fire that took place in their residences. All families involved lost all of their belongings due to smoke and water damage. If you can, please consider donating to support our families in need. See the flyer for more info!
